Amesbury CE Primary School Washroom Refurbishment

Sailsbury, England

Amesbury CE Primary School has been serving its local community since the early 1900s and currently educates over 450 pupils from Reception through to Year 6. As part of an ongoing education washroom refurbishment, the school worked with TBS Amwell to upgrade and modernise its school washrooms in a phased programme.

Our education washroom systems were first installed during Phase 1 in 2014. Following the success of this initial project, the school returned in 2016 to complete Phase 2, reflecting the long-term performance and reliability of our systems in busy primary school toilets.

Client’s Brief – Durable and Child-Friendly School Toilets

The school required a full refurbishment of its school toilets, with a strong focus on creating durable, safe and engaging environments suitable for pupils across all age groups. The key requirement was to deliver robust school washrooms that could withstand constant daily use while remaining compliant with Department for Education compliant standards.

A further priority was ensuring each area supported the needs of different age groups, from Early Years through to Year 6, while maintaining a consistent and well-planned approach across all primary school toilets.

Our Education Washroom Package

For Early Years and Years 1-2, we supplied our Playtime Arches and Acorn toilet cubicle systems, specifically designed to create safe and approachable school washrooms for younger children. These systems feature lower-height doors and partitions to allow effective supervision, while still giving pupils a sense of privacy. The rounded design elements help create a softer, more welcoming environment, and the layouts were designed to make the spaces feel open and accessible.

The Playtime range was specified in High Pressure Laminate with a bespoke Dinosaur digital print, introducing a fun and engaging visual theme that works particularly well in Early Years school toilets.

For Key Stage 2 pupils, our Linea cubicle system was installed in Solid Grade Laminate. This system was selected for its durability and its more mature aesthetic, making it suitable for older pupils. The fluted pilasters and headrail detailing give the system a distinctive appearance while maintaining the strength required for high-traffic school washrooms.

For staff facilities, our Splash system was specified. This provided a smart, robust solution designed for frequent daily use, ensuring consistency in quality across all school toilets within the project. Matching duct panelling and Solid Grade Laminate vanity units were also incorporated to maintain a cohesive finish throughout the building.

The Outcome – Long-Lasting and Engaging School Washrooms

The completed education washroom refurbishment delivered a coordinated and durable solution across all areas of Amesbury CE Primary School. A variety of carefully selected colours were used throughout, with matching duct panels and vanity units helping to create a consistent and well-finished appearance across each set of school washrooms.

Each age group now benefits from a tailored environment, with Early Years and KS1 pupils enjoying bright, engaging and supervised primary school toilets, while KS2 pupils use more refined and robust cubicle systems suited to their stage of development. Staff areas were also upgraded to a durable and practical standard, ensuring all users benefit from high-performance school washrooms.

The result is a long-lasting installation that continues to perform well under constant use, while also enhancing the overall environment of the school.

Client Feedback

Headteacher Yvonne Morrison highlighted the quality and durability of the installation, noting that the systems have continued to perform exceptionally well under heavy daily use. She commented that the bright colours have helped make the school toilets a positive talking point within the school, with pupils taking pride in the spaces and treating them with respect. She also praised the attention to detail and the collaborative approach taken throughout the project, which ensured the final result met the school’s exact requirements.
