The refurbishment of Havelock & Lacuna Place in Hastings formed part of a wider economic development programme to create the new Priory Quarter business district and attract employment opportunities into the town centre.

Wates Construction
Wates Construction was awarded the contract with the Department for Work and Pensions to fit out office accommodation as part of two office relocations in Hastings. As part of this major commercial project, TBS Amwell was selected to supply high-quality commercial washrooms designed for modern workplace use.
The brief required durable, stylish and privacy-focused facilities that would complement a contemporary office environment while supporting long-term daily use.
The new office spaces required professional and practical office washrooms suitable for staff and visitors.
The facilities needed to provide privacy, durability and low-maintenance performance while reflecting the quality of a newly refurbished business district development. Fast installation was also a key priority to support programme deadlines and minimise disruption during fit-out works.
A coordinated finish across cubicles, IPS systems and vanity areas was required to create clean, modern washrooms aligned with the wider office design.
For this washroom project, our Urban Tall toilet cubicle system was selected.
Urban Tall is a premium flush-fronted design that creates a sleek inline façade, making it an ideal choice for contemporary commercial toilet cubicles in office environments.
The system features full-height doors with minimal ceiling clearance, offering users enhanced privacy and personal space. This makes it particularly suitable for office washrooms.
Additional features included:
Specified in Grey Plank, a woodgrain laminate finish, the toilet cubicles created a timeless and sophisticated look throughout the facilities.
To complement the toilet cubicles, matching PDQ Panel & Frame IPS systems were installed.
Manufactured in coordinating Solid Grade Laminate, these IPS panels provided visual consistency throughout the office washroom while neatly concealing plumbing services.
The PDQ system arrives pre-assembled on a metal frame, reducing installation time significantly compared with traditional timber-framed systems. Panels are pre-labelled and pre-hung for faster fitting on site.
Panel layouts were configured to suit WCs, urinals and wash hand basin areas.
We also supplied premium solid surface washtroughs as a modern alternative to traditional basins.
These stylish handwashing units are hygienic, easy to maintain and extremely hardwearing, making them ideal for busy commercial washrooms and office environments.
Compatible with deck-mounted taps and available in multiple finishes, they provided a practical and contemporary solution for the wash areas.
The completed installation delivered modern commercial washrooms that align with the quality and ambition of the Priory Quarter regeneration project.
Staff and visitors now benefit from private, stylish and durable office washrooms designed for everyday use. The full-height Urban Tall cubicles provide enhanced comfort and privacy, while the Grey Plank finish adds warmth and professionalism to the office setting.
Matching IPS systems and sleek solid surface washtroughs complete the design, ensuring the facilities are practical, cohesive and easy to maintain.
